Mike Halem (Mahmoud Abdelhalem) was born in Egypt and raised between the traditions of rural village life and the rapidly changing world of modern Cairo. His life journey has taken him across continents, from Egypt to Austria, Italy, and eventually to the United States where he built a career in finance and entrepreneurship.
Later in life, a series of vivid and powerful dreams began to influence his path in unexpected ways, leading him toward artistic expression and spiritual reflection. These experiences inspired his transition into painting, where his work explores themes of memory, migration, spirituality, and the unseen dimensions of human experience.
Today, Mike Halem lives in San Diego, California, where he continues to paint and write. Gate to Eternity is his first book, combining memoir and art to reflect on a life shaped by movement, dreams, and the search for deeper meaning.
